South Korea has released a partially revised draft of the Implementation Rules of the Special Law on Import Food Safety Management, intending to clarify the relevant provisions for changing import use permits

On March 26th, the South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) issued Announcement No. 2024-148, proposing to amend the Implementation of the Special Law on Import Food Safety Management

The main contents of the "Rules" are as follows:

Clarify the relevant regulations on changing the import use permit, and add the situation of declaring imports of raw materials for earning foreign exchange to the objects of use change approval.

The above opinions were collected as of May 7, 2024.

After the implementation of this regulation, imported products will be strictly inspected in accordance with relevant inspection and quarantine procedures and policies. Therefore, in order to avoid export discoveries, relevant enterprises are required to strictly follow the laws and regulations of the importing country for production, processing, packaging, and distribution. Samples will be confirmed with importers in strict accordance with local requirements, and production will be carried out strictly according to the confirmed samples to avoid the risk of goods being returned
